Trisakti’s trident logo embodies political sovereignty. It covers governmental economy and Indonesian culture. Here we are at Universitas Trisakti Kampus A. This is the main campus. It stands as Indonesia’s largest private university. Universitas Trisakti is uniquely established by the Indonesian government.
Founded on November 29 1965 Universitas Trisakti has a rich history. It has educated over 100000 alumni. Currently more than 20000 students are active here. Universitas Trisakti employs a large faculty.
The university’s origins trace back to Baperki University. This was established in 1958 by an organization of Chinese Indonesians. Later it became Res Publica University. The name meant for the public interest. This name was taken from a speech by President Sukarno.
After an attempted coup the university was destroyed. Baperki was banned. Universitas Trisakti was then established. It replaced the former university. Some former students faced bans due to alleged ties with the Indonesian Communist Party.
Originally Universitas Trisakti had five faculties. These included Engineering Dentistry Medicine Economics and Law. Over time the university expanded. Additional faculties were added. This was done to address technological advancements in Indonesia. Today Universitas Trisakti has nine faculties.
In May 1998 a tragic event occurred. During a demonstration soldiers opened fire on unarmed protestors. Four students died and dozens were injured. These shootings fueled student unrest. This contributed to President Suharto’s resignation. The Trisakti Museum commemorates this tragedy.
Universitas Trisakti has several campuses. Campus A is our main location in Grogol Jakarta Barat. It houses the administrative center. Also here are the Faculties of Law Economics Civil Engineering Industrial Technology and others. Other campuses are located throughout Jakarta and West Java.
The university offers a wide array of academic programs. These span various fields of study. Universitas Trisakti has gained international recognition. This is due to the quality of its graduates. It has double degree programs with universities in the US Australia and Europe.
