Ever wondered how a simple course could evolve into a renowned university? Universitas MH Thamrin’s story is one of remarkable growth and dedication.
The journey began in 1982. It started as a basic course for assisting the sick. This course was called Penolong Orang Sakit. Just a year later, it blossomed into formal diploma-level education.
By 1987, the institution expanded. It included academies for Nursing, Nutrition, Health Analysis, Pharmacy Analysis, Hospital Service Management and Midwifery. These academies later merged. They became the MH Thamrin College of Health Sciences in 2000.
The Yayasan Pendidikan MH Thamrin also managed other schools. These included the MH Thamrin College of Economics founded in 1996. There was also the MH Thamrin College of Informatics and Computer Management founded in 2000.
A significant transformation occurred in 2013. The three colleges united to form Universitas MH Thamrin. This was formalized by the Minister of Education and Culture Decree. The university then added new study programs. These included Nutrition S1 and Electromedical Engineering D4. Also included were Early Childhood Education and Elementary School Teacher Education. Finally English Language Education was added.
Today, Universitas MH Thamrin boasts four faculties. These are Health, Economics and Business, Computer Science, and Teacher Training and Education.
The university’s foundation. It is the Yayasan Pendidikan MH Thamrin. It actively develops quality human resources. These resources have broad insights and high credibility. They can meet global challenges.
Universitas MH Thamrin is known as UNTHAM or UMHT. It is a private university located in Jakarta. The university occupies its own building.
Dr. H. Abdul Radjak, DSOG founded the university. The current rector is Dr. Daeng Mohammad Faqih, S.H, M.H. In 2018, the university had 5,935 students.
Universitas MH Thamrin’s motto is “SMART & PRUDENT”. SMART stands for Sanguine, Methodical, Accountable, Respectful, and Truthful. PRUDENT represents Professional, Responsive, Universal, Democratic, Efficient, Nationalistic, and Transparent.
The university offers various student organizations. These include the Student Consultative Assembly and the University Student Executive Board. There are also faculty-level boards and student activity units. One unique group is the Nature-Loving Students. They are called VOLCANO MH THAMRIN.
Universitas MH Thamrin provides several facilities. These include a Mandiri Bank and ATM. There are also computer labs, a clinic, and a library. Students can also use the chemistry and biology labs. There is parking, places for worship and a canteen.
In 2020, the Higher Education Service Institution ranked Universitas MH Thamrin 41st. This was among the best private universities in Jakarta.
Universitas MH Thamrin operates across four campuses. Campus A is the main campus. Campus B houses the Nutrition Science program. The AKA campus hosts Economics & Business. The Salemba campus is for the Master of Public Health program.
