From a small seed planted in 1967, Universitas Kristen Krida Wacana, or UKRIDA as it’s affectionately known, has blossomed into a prominent institution in Jakarta’s educational landscape. Originally named Universitas Kristen Djaja, UKRIDA was established under the guidance of the GKI Synod of West Java. Imagine the scene back then, a time of great change and development in Indonesia. The founders, supported by influential figures like Prof. Dr. G.A. Siwabessy, the Minister of Health, envisioned a university that would nurture future leaders and contribute to the nation’s growth. UKRIDA began its journey at the Gunung Sahari Campus in Central Jakarta. The university eventually relocated to its current location in Tanjung Duren in 1985. UKRIDA boasts the first and only Applied Bachelor Optometry program in Indonesia and a Diploma in Nursing.
