Universitas Buddhi Dharma’s story is rooted in the vision of the Perkumpulan Keagamaan dan Sosial Boen Tek Bio. This religious and social organization sought to create a higher education institution. Their goal was to be both high-quality and affordable. On November 27, 2014, this vision became reality. The Minister of Education and Culture granted approval. Sekolah Tinggi Buddhi transformed into Universitas Buddhi Dharma.
The official inauguration took place on January 12, 2015. The Mayor of Tangerang, H. Arief Rachadiono Wismansyah, officiated the ceremony. Universitas Buddhi Dharma became the first private Buddhist university. It was organized by the Perkumpulan Keagamaan dan Sosial Boen Tek Bio.

These were Akademi Sekretari dan Manajemen Industri Buddhi or ASMI. Also Sekolah Tinggi Manajemen Informatika dan Komputer Buddhi or STMIK. Furthermore, Sekolah Tinggi Bahasa Asing Buddhi or STBA and Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Ekonomi Buddhi or STIE. All located in Tangerang.
