Look closely at the UTN logo. It shows a commitment to global skills and local pride. Welcome to the Universidad Tecnológica de Nezahualcóyotl. UTN was founded on September 7, 1991. The university emerged from a need for practical skills in education. It was founded by the government of the State of Mexico and Ciudad Nezahualcóyotl.

UTN aimed to drive industrial and economic development. It sought to provide professional education. Other technological universities were founded around the same time. These included Aguascalientes and Tula-Tepeji. These universities are the founders of the Technological Universities System.

UTN was built on the grounds of the old Ciudad Nezahualcóyotl Family Sports Club and Neza 86 Stadium. Neza 86 Stadium is still part of the university’s sports facilities. UTN’s location serves the area’s industrial and business growth. It meets the needs of students from Nezahualcóyotl and nearby areas. These areas include Chalco and Chimalhuacán.

Initially, UTN offered degrees in production processes and computer science. It also offered degrees in business administration and marketing. Environmental technology was added in 1995. Telematics followed a year later. Engineering programs began in 2009. These included business management, production technology, and environmental technology. Information technology and communication were also included. Mechatronics engineering was added in 2013.

Today, UTN offers 13 degree programs. It uses a different model than traditional universities. Students gain practical experience from the start. This prepares them for the workforce. UTN offers a dual degree option. Students can earn a TSU degree in two years. They can then continue for another year and eight months to complete an engineering degree.

UTN’s academic area includes seven buildings. These house 123 classrooms and 31 computer labs. There are also two internal workshops and three audiovisual rooms. Thirteen faculty rooms and six specialized laboratories are available. Modern facilities provide services. These include a cafeteria and medical services. An auditorium seats 250 people. Sports facilities enhance physical and mental development. These include a semi-Olympic pool and a covered gym. There is also a weightlifting gym. Areas for tae kwon do and folk dance are present. An athletic track and soccer fields are available.

The Estadio Universidad Tecnológica hosts university events. It was a venue for the 1986 FIFA World Cup. It remains part of the university’s heritage.

Three symbols represent the UTN community. These are the shield, the “Nezahualcóyotl” sculpture, and the “Tree of Knowledge” sculpture. The “Nezahualcóyotl” sculpture is at the main entrance. It was created by Manuel Felguérez in 1991. The 18-meter-tall metal tower represents technological progress. The sculpture features the colors of the university’s shield. It symbolizes innovation and the future. The “Tree of Knowledge” commemorates the 20th anniversary.

UTN is committed to quality education. It aims to develop professionals who can drive the country’s development. The university emphasizes social responsibility. It provides strong technological, humanistic, and scientific preparation. UTN’s mission is to ensure graduates are competitive nationally and internationally. The university is certified under ISO 9001:2008. It also has certifications in gender equity and environmental management.
