Universidad Tecnol\u00f3gica de M\u00e9xico was founded in 1966. A group of Mexican entrepreneurs established it. They wanted to develop and improve the country. The university began with degrees in Business Administration and Public Accounting.
In 1968 the first campus opened. It was located on Avenida Marina Nacional. Today it is part of the Marina-Cuitl\u00e1huac Campus.

The Dentistry Clinic is a key part of Universidad Tecnol\u00f3gica de M\u00e9xico Campus Marina. In 1970 the bachelor’s degree in Dental Surgeon was created. It is a program that distinguishes the university. The first generation of graduates also graduated this year.
In 2003, the new Dentistry Clinic was inaugurated. Its facilities offer a vanguard model. It uses dental technology and education. It offers services to the community. These include diagnostic, emergency, and radiology services. It provides surgical reconstructive and rehabilitation care. Pediatric care, endodontics, and orthodontics are also available.
Instructors supervise every five students. Students practice with artificial teeth and simulators. They begin this practice from their first semester. During the second semester students perform cleaning and prophylaxis in the Dentistry Clinic. In the third semester they practice endodontics and dental surgery. From the sixth semester students have access to the comprehensive clinic.
The Faculty of Dentistry exceeded necessary standards. It obtained certification from the National Council of Dental Education. It was the first private university to achieve this.
In May 2008 Laureate Education Inc started purchasing Universidad Tecnol\u00f3gica de M\u00e9xico. On July 8 2008, the company announced its acquisition. It was made through its subsidiary Laureate International Universities.
Universidad Tecnol\u00f3gica de M\u00e9xico offers three academic delivery models. These are Traditional, Working-adult and On-line. It includes many academic programs. These range from high school to postgraduate degrees.
Universidad Tecnol\u00f3gica de M\u00e9xico’s Labor Liaison Center helps students. It offers services to promote job placement. Students gain access to part-time vacancies. The International Finance Corporation studied UNITEC graduates. The study showed that the employment rate for UNITEC students is high. It is higher than other private universities. UNITEC students get hired faster. They also receive better labor benefits.
Universidad Tecnol\u00f3gica de M\u00e9xico obtained institutional accreditation by FIMPES. It has obtained the highest level of institutional accreditation. It achieved this in 2000, 2006, and 2015.
According to the Reader’s Digest Selections ranking UNITEC is in the Top 20. It is among the 100 best universities in Mexico. The QS Stars ranking gave UNITEC five stars. It earned the stars in employability, teaching, online education, and social responsibility.
Universidad Tecnol\u00f3gica de M\u00e9xico obtained certification in ISO 9001:2015. This is for the process of recruiting, selecting, and contracting faculty.
From its beginnings in 1966 Universidad Tecnol\u00f3gica de M\u00e9xico Campus Marina has grown. It now has multiple campuses and a wide range of programs. It prepares students for the challenges of the modern world.
