Founded in 1960 by Josè Ortega Romero, Universidad Del Valle de Mexico started with just 212 students. There were only 23 teachers and 14 administrative staff. They offered programs in accounting and business administration.
Universidad Del Valle de Mexico quickly dropped elementary and secondary levels. It focused on high school and undergraduate studies. The institution consolidated in 1968. Since 1976, the university has expanded. New campuses opened in Mexico City and surrounding areas. They also opened in other Mexican cities.
UVM’s partnership with Laureate International Universities is very important. It allows academic exchanges and diverse knowledge sharing. Students gain international exposure.
The Universidad Del Valle de Mexico now has 38 campuses throughout Mexico. It is one of Mexico’s largest university systems. Over 120000 students are enrolled here. There are approximately 11900 faculty members. Around 6900 staff employees keep things running smoothly.

UVM provides approximately 575 exchange opportunities. This includes summer campus programs and double degrees. There are 145 options for double degrees and international certificates. Fifteen intensive schools occur during summer or winter. Teachers from abroad visit the country. Also, UVM offers five English levels in partnership with institutions.
Universidad Del Valle de Mexico values sports. They help students prepare in various disciplines. Many students have achieved success in national and international events.
In the 2012 London Olympics, 14 UVM athletes participated. They earned 3 of Mexico’s 4 medals. At the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto, 16 UVM athletes attended. They secured 14 medals. There were 4 golds, 5 silvers, and 5 bronzes.
The UVM football team is called “Linces UVM”. The UVM Lynxes compete in the ONEFA. This is the National Student Organization of American Football.
Interestingly, UVM alumni often earn more than peers from other universities. According to the QS Stars ranking, UVM excels in teaching, employability, and access.
Many notable alumni have passed through the halls of Universidad Del Valle de Mexico. Carlos Cortés won an Oscar for Best Sound. Jorge Emilio González Martínez is a Mexican politician. He is also a Senator and leader of the Ecologist Green Party. Cesar Duarte Jaquez served as Governor of Chihuahua. María Espinoza secured an Olympic gold medal in 2008. Ricardo Anaya Cortés is a former presidential candidate.
