In 1962, the Ukrainian Christian Pentecostal Church first opened its doors in the bustling city of Chicago. It was a small church, filled with the hopes and dreams of Ukrainian immigrants seeking a sense of belonging and spiritual solace in a new land. The church quickly grew, attracting a diverse community of individuals who sought to find meaning in life through a relationship with Jesus. Over the years, the congregation expanded, demanding a larger space to accommodate its growing numbers. In 1982, they moved to Bensenville, where they built their current church at 644 South John Street. The church building has a rich history of renovations and expansions, reflecting the congregation’s commitment to providing a welcoming and vibrant space for its members. In 2002, the stage area was redesigned to accommodate the growing choir. A few years later, in 2003, the church underwent a significant expansion to better serve the burgeoning congregation. Construction began in September 2004 but was delayed due to various changes made during the process. The expanded church, a testament to years of hard work and dedication, was finally completed in November 2009. Today, the Ukrainian Christian Pentecostal Church remains a vibrant spiritual center for the Ukrainian community in Chicago. It continues to offer a safe haven where people of all ages can explore their faith, strengthen their bonds with one another, and find hope and guidance in the challenging times.
