\u00dajpest itself has a rich history. The district was formed on the border of Pest in 1838. It became a town in 1907. In 1950, it was unified with Budapest. Since then, \u00dajpest has been the 4th District of Budapest.

Isaac Lowy founded \u00dajpest. He wanted to move his shoe factory to Pest. However, he couldn’t get a permit because he was Jewish. So, in 1835, he decided to create a new town. He bought land north of Pest from the K\u00e1rolyi nobles. The deed included religious freedom and self-government. By 1838, 13 Jewish families lived in \u00dajpest. Soon after, Christians also moved in.

\u00dajpest is also known for its sports. The \u00dajpest FC football club is named after the district. It was formed there in 1885. It has played there ever since.
