A small village began to take shape. In 1868, a Mr. Møller decided to open the first shop on Damvej. This street was the heart of the village. Soon, other shops followed. One opened in 1893 on Østergårdsvej and another in 1895 at the corner of Ryomvej and Aarhusvej. However, with changing times and new shopping habits, the last shop closed its doors in the 1990s. But UgelbØlle’s story isn’t just about commerce. It’s also about community. The “Old School” on Overgårdsvej stands as a reminder of the village’s dedication to education. Built in the 1870s by villagers and farmers, it served the community until 1936. Today, UgelbØlle continues this commitment to education with the UgelbØlle Friskole. The spirit of UgelbØlle is perhaps best embodied by its Forsamlingshus, a community center built in 1894. It was a place where villagers gathered, celebrated, and forged bonds. Even today, it hosts the annual Ugelbølledagen and the New Year’s Eve torchlight procession. UgelbØlle continues to grow and thrive.
