On a stormy night in 1951, tragedy struck just off the coast from U.S. Coast Guard Station Wilmette. Radio contact was lost with CG 30315. The crew, BM3 Robert Sawyer and EN1 Max Wage, were searching for a missing vessel with three duck hunters on board. The hunters’ boat was found, but CG 30315 vanished into the stormy lake, never to be seen again.
