Is this where the troll finally surrendered? Tved Kirke, bathed in the soft sunlight filtering through ancient trees, seems to stand as a testament to resilience. The current Tved Kirke, built in the first half of the 12th century, is actually the second attempt at establishing a church in this idyllic spot. Legend has it that the first attempt, located between Tved and Dejret, was constantly thwarted by a mischievous troll. Every night, the persistent troll would gleefully demolish what the villagers had built during the day. Frustrated but undeterred, the villagers devised a plan. They tethered two heifers together and decided that wherever the animals grazed the next morning, the church would be built. And so, Tved Kirke, overlooking Knebel Vig, was born. This time, the troll did not interfere. The church stands as a silent testament to the determination of the villagers and the rich folklore of this land.
