Established in the 1970s Trophy Club boasts a unique history. It’s one of Texas’s earliest planned communities. Trophy Club was built around a golf course. This course was designed by the legendary Ben Hogan himself. Imagine the prestige. Trophy Club wasn’t always a planned community. Its roots stretch back to 1847. That’s when Charles and Matilda Medlin and other families settled nearby. They were part of the Peters Colony. These settlers sought land grants in Texas. They initially settled in Elizabethtown. But Elizabeth Creek flooded forcing them to relocate. They found higher ground in the area that is now Trophy Club. The Medlins left a lasting mark. A cemetery honors their daughter Mittie Ann Medlin. Medlin Middle School also bears their name. The cemetery holds information about early settlers. Long after the Medlins Trophy Club began its transformation. Developers Johnson and Loggins created the community in 1973. They built homes around the country club. The name Trophy Club reflects the original plan. Ben Hogan’s trophy collection was meant to be housed there. In 1985 Trophy Club became incorporated. James “Jim” P Carter served as its first mayor. He served from 1985 to 1999. Trophy Club is located southwest of Grapevine Lake. It’s a thriving suburb in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. The town’s population was 13688 in 2020. Trophy Club is a testament to careful planning. It’s a place where history and modern living blend seamlessly. It’s a great place to call home.
