Tucked between bustling streets and modern buildings lies Traverse de l’École Oasis. It’s an unexpected haven, a quiet passage connected to a vibrant school. Traverse de l’École Oasis isn’t just a street name. It’s a testament to the Aygalades-Oasis school, a vital part of Marseille’s 15th arrondissement. The school, located on Traverse de l’École Oasis, has served the community for decades. In 2024, the Aygalades-Oasis school underwent a major transformation. The renovations, completed in record time, breathed new life into the Traverse de l’École Oasis campus. Two aging buildings were completely revamped. They now house 31 modern classrooms, dormitories, a kitchen, and two dining halls. The construction also included a covered walkway, connecting the two main buildings on Traverse de l’École Oasis. Two new extensions were added. One houses a multipurpose room, the other a dedicated space for physical activities. The outdoor areas were also enhanced. Two new recreational courtyards now provide students with play areas and sports facilities. The architects and builders took special care to minimize the environmental impact of the renovation project at Traverse de l’École Oasis. They preserved the original structures of the buildings. New modules with wooden frames were integrated seamlessly. The use of bio-sourced materials, like wood framing for the facades, wooden beams, solid stone, and wood wool insulation, reduced the carbon footprint. Materials like granite pavers, stair treads, and flooring, salvaged from the demolition, were cleverly reused. The result is a high-performance building with low energy consumption. The existing wooded area was preserved and enhanced with additional greenery, creating pockets of coolness within the urban environment. The Traverse de l’École Oasis project represents more than just a school renovation. It demonstrates a commitment to education and sustainability in the heart of Marseille.
