The building was commissioned by Société Générale, a major French bank. You can see their iconic twin towers nearby. Tour Granite was built to accommodate the bank’s growing needs. It’s connected to the twin towers by a bridge, forming a mini-complex. What’s fascinating is that Tour Granite was initially planned to be even taller. However, after the September 11th attacks, the design was scaled back for security reasons. Despite that, it still stands as the fifth tallest building in La Défense. Look closely at its facade. You’ll notice that it seems to shimmer and change depending on the sunlight. This is due to the unique choice of materials and the way they reflect light.
