In 1979, a concrete giant pierced the Parisian skyline: Tour Beaugrenelle. Also known as Tour H15, this residential skyscraper stands proudly in the Front de Seine district of the 15th arrondissement. Tour Beaugrenelle is a unique structure within its neighborhood. It’s one of the few towers in Front de Seine to feature balconies on its apartments. Imagine gazing out from one of these balconies, taking in the breathtaking views of the city. The iconic white sphere perched atop Tour Beaugrenelle often sparks curiosity. Many believe it houses the building’s water reserves for fire emergencies. However, it’s actually a defunct sign from the Beaugrenelle Shopping Centre. A more hidden fact about Tour Beaugrenelle is its radioactive lightning rod containing radium 226. This device was reported to the National Inventory of Radioactive Lightning Rods in 2011. Tour Beaugrenelle is more than just a residential building. It’s a testament to innovative architecture. It stands 98 meters tall. The building boasts 30 floors, housing 192 apartments. It has undergone significant renovations between 2015 and 2017, modernizing its appearance and improving its energy efficiency. Tour Beaugrenelle’s transformation demonstrates a dedication to preserving architectural heritage while embracing modern advancements. The building’s renovation included a redesign of the facade, giving it a more streamlined appearance. The original oval shape of the balconies was preserved to maintain the building’s unique character.
