What if the sky had a limit? The Torre BBVA in Mexico City challenges that very notion. Here we stand before this impressive skyscraper. It pierces the sky at 235 meters.

The Torre BBVA is more than just a pretty face. It serves as the headquarters for BBVA México. This is Mexico’s largest bank. Its presence here on Paseo de la Reforma is unmistakable.

Construction on the Torre BBVA began in 2009. It finished in 2015. The official opening was on February 9, 2016. For a brief moment, it was the tallest building in Mexico.

The Torre Reforma soon surpassed it. Now the Torre BBVA is the fourth tallest skyscraper in Mexico City. Chapultepec Uno, Torre Reforma, and Mitikah are all taller.

LegoRogers designed the building. It is a collaboration of Legorreta + Legorreta and Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners. Their vision created this iconic structure.

The Torre BBVA boasts 50 stories. Each office floor soars to 4.30 meters high. The seven parking levels measure 3.7 meters each. The building’s total floor space is 185000 square meters. That is impressive. The site itself is only 11000 square meters.

Interestingly the building has decorative antennas. These add 15 meters to the very top. However the official height remains 235 meters. This is measured up to the heliport.

The Torre BBVA also has a LEED Gold certification. This means it is environmentally friendly. It saves 40% of water and 25% of energy. Vertical gardens appear every three floors.

Advanced technology protects the building from the sun. This also helps to save energy. The structure uses both concrete and steel. It is designed to withstand earthquakes. It integrates the latest technology for seismic safety.

Inside, the Torre BBVA has cutting-edge systems. Air conditioning, lighting, and plumbing are all state-of-the-art. These systems reduce water and electricity consumption by 33%.

Before the Torre BBVA stood here, there were other buildings. The Reforma 506 building was here from 1971. It was also known as the Torre Mario Moreno I. It measured 95 meters. The Edificio Jena also stood here. It measured 68 meters. Another 10-story building was at Reforma 508.

The land for the Torre BBVA was a major investment. It cost 13000 dollars per square meter. This was the largest real estate investment in Latin America at the time.

The Torre BBVA is a symbol of modern Mexico City. It represents progress, innovation, and sustainability. As you gaze up at this impressive structure, remember its story. It is a story of architectural vision and environmental responsibility.
