Tıp Fakültesi, the Faculty of Medicine at Akdeniz University in Antalya, offers just that. Established in 1973 as Antalya Faculty of Medicine, it began as part of Ankara University. This connection lasted until 1977, when it started its independent journey right here in Antalya. Tıp Fakültesi initially operated from a temporary building in Topçular, focusing on basic medical education. In 1981, clinical sciences education began at the Pulmonology Hospital in Kepez. Then, a pivotal year arrived: 1982. Akdeniz University was founded, and Tıp Fakültesi became an integral part of it. Tıp Fakültesi is home to three main branches of medical science: Basic Medical Sciences, Internal Medical Sciences, and Surgical Medical Sciences. These branches encompass a remarkable 43 departments. The faculty’s commitment to quality education is evident in its accreditation by UTEAK in 2010, placing it among the first accredited medical faculties in Turkey. This accreditation was reaffirmed in 2017. The basic sciences building at Tıp Fakültesi boasts modern equipment and tools, including state-of-the-art laboratories and numerous mock-ups. Simulated patient laboratories and simulation laboratories provide students with hands-on experience. Classrooms and laboratories buzz with activity, utilizing Problem-Based Learning (PBL) sessions and interactive teaching methods. Tıp Fakültesi’s mission is clear: to nurture highly skilled physicians and specialists who uphold ethical standards and elevate the health of society.
