High above Kongsholmparken sits a gentle giant. This is Thomas on the Mountain. He is waiting for you.

Thomas on the Mountain is one of six forgotten giants. They are hidden around Copenhagen’s western municipalities. Thomas Dambo created these sculptures. He used recycled wood and local volunteers.

The aim of the project was simple. Dambo wanted to bring art outside. He wanted to show the beautiful and often overlooked nature spots. He also wanted to create a different experience.

The sculpture’s name is quite special. It is named after Thomas Dambo’s intern. His intern was also named Thomas. He was part of the project from the very beginning.

These giants are not just art. They encourage exploration. They invite you to discover hidden gems. The giants are tucked away in forests and by lakes. They sit atop hills.

Thomas on the Mountain offers a unique experience. You can sit on his long legs. Enjoy the view with him. Take in the scenery of Kongsholmparken.

The six giants were built during Vestegnen’s Culture Week in 2016. All six are made from scrap wood. This includes wood from local demolition projects. It also includes old twigs and leftover wood.

You can visit Thomas on the Mountain on foot or by bike. There are hiking and cycling routes available. The routes cover 35 and 31 km.

The giants are part of a troll hunt. Families enjoy searching for these hidden figures.

Thomas on the Mountain is more than a sculpture. He is an invitation. He invites you to explore. He encourages you to appreciate overlooked nature. He reminds us of the beauty of recycled materials. He brings art and nature together.

So, come visit Thomas on the Mountain. Discover the magic of the forgotten giants. Experience Copenhagen in a new light.
