Thomas Easter, a name etched in the plaque before us, whispers a story of the early days of Tarrant County. Born in Virginia around 1823, Thomas embarked on a journey that led him to Texas. By 1848, he had settled in Tarrant County. He claimed his stake in this new land, securing a 640-acre tract in its northeast corner. This land, a testament to his pioneering spirit, would become his legacy. Life, as it often does, drew to a close. Thomas Easter died in 1862. His final resting place? A portion of his beloved land, transformed into the Thomas Easter Cemetery. He was not alone in his eternal slumber. His wife Charity, born around 1820, joined him in the early 1880s. Hardin West, another pioneer soul born in 1809, found peace here upon his death on March 10, 1881. The cemetery, however, holds more than just the named. Several unmarked graves stand as silent sentinels, their stories lost to time. The passage of years brought a new chapter. A schoolhouse, bearing the Easter name, rose beside the burial ground in the 19th century. Today, only the Thomas Easter Cemetery Plaque remains. It stands as a poignant reminder of the pioneers who came before. They carved their lives into the Texas landscape, their stories echoing through the ages.
