“A cultural hub.” That is what they call this quaint Théâtre Octave Mirbeau. Théâtre Octave Mirbeau stands as a testament to the enduring legacy of Octave Mirbeau. He was a celebrated French dramatist, novelist, and art critic. The theater finds its home in a building on Rue Cadot. It has served various purposes throughout its existence. But in 1977 it embraced its destiny as a hub for the performing arts. The year 1996 marked a significant milestone for the Théâtre Octave Mirbeau. It was renamed in honor of Octave Mirbeau, a prominent figure who once graced the town with his presence. Mirbeau, a literary virtuoso, is best known for his masterpiece “Journal d’une femme de chambre” (Diary of a Chambermaid). Towards the twilight of his life, he sought solace in Triel. He resided in a house nestled on the heights of the town, in the serene neighborhood of Cherverchemont. Today, the theater stands as a tribute to his legacy. The theater primarily serves as the stage for the theatrical productions of “Les Comédiens de la Tour”. This esteemed theatrical company has been an integral part of Triel’s cultural fabric since 1977. The Théâtre Octave Mirbeau is a vibrant space with a seating capacity of approximately 150. It boasts a range of amenities, including private boxes for an exclusive viewing experience, a cozy bar area for pre-show drinks and intermission refreshments and a control room equipped with state-of-the-art sound and lighting systems. Visitors can easily find parking at the nearby Foch parking lot, which is completely free of charge.
