Imagine a haven of philosophical exploration right here in London. This is The United Lodge of Theosophists. It stands as a unique beacon for those seeking deeper truths.

The United Lodge of Theosophists or ULT is an informal association. It is wholly voluntary. Students of Theosophy founded it in 1909. Robert Crosbie led these initial efforts. The first lodge started in Los Angeles. Crosbie and seven associates adopted its Declaration on February 18, 1909.

After Crosbie’s death B.P. Wadia helped revive the lodge. Now there are about twenty active lodges worldwide. The ULT is considered part of the Theosophical Movement’s second generation. This movement began in 1875. H.P. Blavatsky started it in New York. Today the ULT is one of the four main branches of that original movement.

The United Lodge of Theosophists in London resides at Robert Crosbie House. You will find it at 62 Queen’s Gardens. This London location provides a space for study and reflection. The ULT offers scheduled lectures and study classes. These are free and open to everyone.

The ULT distinguishes itself from other Theosophical organizations. Its founding principles are unique. These principles emphasize independent devotion to Theosophy. The lodge remains loyal to the great Founders. But it avoids individual opinions and dissensions. The dissemination of Theosophy’s fundamental principles is key. The lodge encourages the practical application of these principles. This happens through a deeper realization of the Self and Universal Brotherhood.

The United Lodge of Theosophists has no constitution. It has no by-laws or officers. The sole bond is similarity of aim purpose and teaching. The lodge welcomes all engaged in true service to humanity. This is regardless of race creed sex condition or organization. It invites those who align with its declared purposes. Members fit themselves through study. They become better able to help and teach others.

The true Theosophist belongs to no cult or sect. Yet they belong to each and all. Those wishing to associate sign a declaration. This expresses their sympathy with the Lodge’s purposes. It confirms their desire to be enrolled as an Associate. This association requires no obligation. Associates determine their own level of involvement.

The London branch is part of a global network. Other lodges exist in diverse locations. These include Antwerp Athens Bangalore Brasilia and Dijon. You will find lodges in Douala Guadalajara Jacmel and Los Angeles. Other locations include Malmo Mexico City Mumbai New York City and Paris. Philadelphia Phoenix San Diego and San Francisco also have lodges. Santa Barbara The Hague Turin and Washington D.C. complete the list. Each lodge offers its own unique environment.
