Its walls could tell tales of a time when the notorious Judge Jeffreys, he of “Bloody Assizes” infamy, was apprehended right here. The Town of Ramsgate also played host to another pair of famous seafarers: Captain Bligh and Fletcher Christian. It’s said that the two shared a drink here before embarking on their fateful voyage on the HMS Bounty, a voyage that would culminate in mutiny on the high seas.
