Recognizing the uniqueness of each learner is The Skills Hub’s aim. It stands as a beacon of hope. It fosters a safe and inclusive learning community. The Skills Hub dedicates itself to helping young people. It helps them develop their knowledge and skills. This enables them to build healthy relationships. It allows them to find meaningful employment. They can lead fulfilling lives.

The Skills Hub is in the London Borough of Hillingdon. It is a co-educational Alternative Provision or AP. It caters to students who cannot attend mainstream school. This is often due to permanent exclusion. The student cohort is transient. Students join and leave throughout the school year.

The Skills Hub works with many groups of pupils. These pupils span a wide age range. This includes pupils excluded from school. It also serves pupils at risk of exclusion. Some pupils have special needs. These needs do not require a statement. Examples include young mums and pupils with medical needs. The Skills Hub supports pupils requiring education outside school. It also aids disaffected pupils. Additional in-school support is available. Students new to Hillingdon can also find a place here. They can attend while awaiting a permanent school.

The Skills Hub strives to be a safe learning community. It is compassionate and inclusive. It recognises the uniqueness of its learners. It celebrates their success. The Skills Hub helps young people develop. It provides them with knowledge and skills. This reflects their abilities. It enables them to sustain healthy relationships. They can become gainfully employed. They will lead enriched lives.

The Skills Hub moved into a new site in January 2023. This purpose-built facility is located on Falling Lane. The Skills Hub offers extensive facilities. These include music technology and catering rooms. There are also construction rooms. The science labs are state-of-the-art. Sports facilities are also available.

Staff members enjoy working with the young people. They help them return to mainstream school. They prepare them for work, further education or training.

The Skills Hub was inspected by Ofsted in Spring 2018. It received a “Good” judgement. Since 2016, The Skills Hub has been part of the Orchard Hill College Academy Trust.

The Skills Hub curriculum delivers a central vision. This vision promotes excellence through compassion. The Skills Hub challenges bullying, racism, homophobia and discrimination. This is done through assemblies and staff training. School events also address these issues. A broad and balanced curriculum is provided. This curriculum is relevant to the students.

The Skills Hub engages students in soft skills. These skills are required for future success. The Prince’s Trust and the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Schemes are offered. Intervention programs are part of the curriculum. They support language and life skills development.

The Skills Hub aims to improve literacy. They recognise its importance for all students. Students have the opportunity to participate in an essay competition. This provides a platform for expression.
