Scattered throughout the captivating landscapes surrounding Copenhagen, The Six Forgotten Giants await discovery. These aren’t your typical city monuments. They are magnificent wooden sculptures, hidden gems crafted by the imaginative artist Thomas Dambo. The Six Forgotten Giants are more than just art; they’re an invitation to explore. Dambo cleverly placed these giants off the beaten path, encouraging people to venture into the beautiful, often overlooked natural areas around Copenhagen. He wants people to discover the giants by using a treasure map or poems engraved on stones near each sculpture.

The Six Forgotten Giants are constructed entirely from recycled wood. Dambo used 600 old pallets, a discarded wooden shed, pieces of an old fence, and any other scrap wood he could find. Each giant is named after one of the volunteers who helped bring them to life. The giants each have a unique personality and even a special function. For example, Sleeping Louis offers a hidden shelter, accessible through his open mouth. Hilltop Trine’s hands form a lookout point, offering a breathtaking view of the surroundings. Thomas On The Mountain’s long legs provide ample seating for weary travelers. Teddy Friendly extends a helpful arm across a stream. Oscar Under The Bridge lends support to the bridge he stands beneath. Little Tilde, gazing across a lake, provides homes for birds in her 28 built-in birdhouses.

These giants aren’t just impressive works of art; they are a testament to the power of recycling and the beauty of nature. The Six Forgotten Giants project encourages people to connect with the environment and see the potential in discarded materials. So, grab a map, follow the clues, and embark on an unforgettable adventure to discover The Six Forgotten Giants hidden around Copenhagen. Their stories are woven into the very wood they are made of, waiting to be discovered by those who seek them out.
