Established in 1983 the Philippine Centre for St Pio of Pietrelcina stands before you. It’s a testament to faith and devotion. This centre wasn’t built overnight. It began with a simple request. Bishop Jesus J Sison of Tarlac sought help from Ramon E Rodriguez. He needed a sponsor for six Italian Capuchin priests visiting Manila. These priests were devoted to Padre Pio. His reputation for miraculous healing was already spreading worldwide. Padre Pio wasn’t yet a saint. His holiness was evident to many though.

The priests initially stayed at the Manila Hilton. They chose to live with Mr Rodriguez instead. They preferred simplicity. They wanted to avoid the spotlight. Their month-long stay in Manila wasn’t a vacation. They sought Filipinos to share Padre Pio’s devotion. Rev Fr Alessio Parente promised to return. He kept his word. He returned with American volunteers. They helped form the first Padre Pio prayer group. This included Mr and Mrs Rodriguez.

On March 7 1983 the Centre was officially registered. It’s a non-stock non-profit organization. Its goal is to spread devotion to St Pio. It also aims to support his charitable works. The Centre now owns several relics of St Pio. These are venerated after Masses and novenas in their chapel. The Centre’s influence spread. Many prayer groups formed across the Philippines. The Centre’s mission continues to grow.

The Centre’s chapel is a significant landmark. It’s not just a building. It’s a place of peace and prayer. Many find solace and strength within its walls. The chapel is open daily. Masses and novenas are held regularly. Visitors can venerate St Pio’s relics. They can also find comfort and spiritual renewal. The Centre’s story is one of faith perseverance and the power of prayer. It’s a place where devotion blossoms. It’s a place of hope. It is a special place. The Philippine Centre for St Pio of Pietrelcina continues to inspire many. Its mission continues to this day.
