The Most Sacred Heart of Jesus stands proud on Eden Grove, a beacon of faith in the bustling heart of Holloway.

Built in 1870, The Most Sacred Heart of Jesus is a testament to the devotion of the Victorian era. The foundation stone was laid in 1869 and the church was opened on August 18th, 1870. The architect was F.H. Pownall and the church cost around £7,000. The church was consecrated in 1928. The Most Sacred Heart of Jesus is Grade II listed.

The church was founded by Canon Cornelius Keens, a man with a vision for a place of worship that would serve the growing community of Holloway. Before the current site was bought in 1867, the mission was based at 5 Albany Place and then at 19 Campbell Place, which served as a school during the week and as a church on Sundays. The Most Sacred Heart of Jesus has gone through several renovations over the years, including the installation of a west gallery, a reordered sanctuary, and new confessionals in 1960-61.
