What began as summer street revivals in the 1930s has evolved into The Lakes Church. This church stands as a beacon of faith in Sachse. It started with a group from First Assembly of God Dallas. They brought their ministry to downtown Rockwall.

The story of The Lakes Church is one of mergers and growth. It reflects the changing landscape of its community. In 2013, First Assembly of God of Rockwall merged with The Lakes Community Church. This union created The Lakes Assembly. David Spiegel became the Senior Pastor, guiding the newly combined church.

The Lakes Church is part of the Assemblies of God USA. It is a Pentecostal, Spirit-Filled church. It is associated with the North Texas District. The church emphasizes a welcoming atmosphere. It welcomes people from all walks of life. They can encounter God’s life-changing power here.

This church began holding revival meetings on the town square. They were led by members of the Pentecostal Tabernacle. The Pentecostal Tabernacle was located at 805 S Peak Street in Dallas. The church quickly grew and became known as First Assembly of God of Rockwall, TX.

Early on, the church met in various buildings around the square. Later, they bought an old store building on Goliad Street. In September 1939, it officially formed as First Assembly of God of Rockwall, TX.

In 1948, Reverends Marshall and Martha Hammack arrived in Rockwall. Pastor Hammack initiated the construction of a new church building. He bought lumber in Arkansas. The church had acquired land next to the old city well. With Brother Blue’s carpenter crew, the framework went up quickly. Pastor Hammack and Glenn Daniel completed the building in 1952.

Rockwall experienced rapid population growth in the 1980s and 1990s. The church adapted to this cultural and demographic shift. Despite challenges, church members prayed for a powerful impact on Rockwall.

In October 2006, The Lakes Community Church was planted in Fate, TX. In March 2010, David Spiegel was voted in as Lead Pastor.

In 2012, David Spiegel became Senior Pastor of both churches. This led to the merger of First Assembly of God of Rockwall and The Lakes Community Church. In March 2013, the church officially became The Lakes Assembly.

In 2013, members built a prayer chapel on the property. The Lakes Assembly made it open to the public 24-7. This reflects the importance of prayer to the church.

In September 2015, renovations expanded the parking lot and updated facilities. The Lakes Church added a second Sunday Morning Service. This accommodated the church’s growth.

The Lakes Church continues to evolve. It is a contemporary church. It provides excellent ministries for all ages. The Lakes Church strives to develop Godly leaders. They want to influence the world positively. The church supports missions around the world. The Lakes Church is more than just a place of worship. It’s a family.
