Wouldn’t you agree that community is essential? The Hills Church in Dallas offers just that. It is a non-denominational church. The Hills Church wants to make and grow followers of Jesus.
The Hills Church began in 1956. It was then called The Richland Hills Church of Christ. The church has changed its name slightly. It is now The Hills Church of Christ.
The Hills Church has approximately 8000 members. It has three physical campuses. These campuses are in North Richland Hills, Southlake and West Fort Worth. The Hills also has an online campus. The Hills Church wants to expand its outreach to Dallas County. Its vision is to further God’s mission. They want to go and make disciples.
The Hills Church believes in one true God. This God co-exists in three persons. They are the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The Father is the Creator. He sustains all. The Son, Jesus, died for our sins. He paid the penalty that our sins deserve. Jesus was resurrected. He offers us eternal life. The Holy Spirit leads us daily. The Spirit helps us become more like Jesus.
The Hills Church finds God through the Bible. The Bible is God’s inspired Word. Believers journey together in faith. They seek to do the will of God. The journey of faith begins in baptism. They receive salvation through Jesus’ death and resurrection.
Humanity was created in God’s image. Sin separates us from God. Jesus saves us. We seek to live pure and ethical lives. We follow the teachings of Scripture. Those who accept God’s forgiveness will spend eternity in Heaven.
The Hills Church supports many ministries. These include ministries for men and children. They also have ministries for missions and women. The church also supports special needs and local communities. Young adults and students are included. There are sports and discipleship programs.
The Hills Church focuses on missions. It has two giving seasons each year. The Hills Church supports 30 missionaries in 23 countries. It has helped to plant 41 churches. Since 2016, 1755 people have accepted Jesus. They accepted Him as their Lord and Savior. They were then baptized at The Hills.
The Hills Church attracts about 5000 weekly attendees. This includes all campuses and services. Over a thousand attend the a cappella service. The Hills Church has a two-story lobby. It includes a coffee shop and a gift shop. There is also a kid’s playground. TVs show video of the service.
Lead worship minister Ryan Christian saw The Hills’ music program grow. He is the church’s first full-time paid music employee. Christian didn’t know how to play instruments until six years ago. The church then added the worship band. He has since learned guitar and piano.
Another staff member is Jeremy Epps. He leads the instrumental services. John Ward leads the high school arts and worship ministry. He appreciates the church’s diverse music and congregation.
The Hills offers both a cappella and instrumental services. The instrumental services are more popular. They attract a more diverse group. The church offers a Spanish translator at the 11 am service.
The Hills Church strives to create a welcoming environment. It is casual. You will see jeans and shorts. Dresses and business casual attire are also common. Wear something comfortable. Volunteers are available to help. They wear blue shirts. Guest parking is near the front. Arrive 10-15 minutes early. This allows time to park. You can also get coffee and check in kids. Then find your seat.
