Is that a giant hand reaching out from the cliffs? You might be surprised to learn that this is the Hand Sculpture, a rather unique landmark here in Karaalioglu Park. Created in the early 1980s by the artist Kuzgun Acar, the Hand Sculpture has a fascinating story behind it. It’s said to be a depiction of Hasim Iscan’s hand and his wife Fersa’s hand. They were so deeply in love that they decided to immortalize their bond by embedding their actual wedding rings into the sculpture. It’s a testament to enduring love, wouldn’t you say? Although the sculpture has faced some controversy over the years, even being removed at one point, it was eventually returned to its place overlooking the sea. It serves as a reminder that art, like love, can be a powerful force.
