Established on August 8th, 2011, it rose from the former Maldives National Centre for Linguistic and Historic Research. The Academy bears a crucial responsibility, ensuring the survival and prosperity of Dhivehi. This unique language, spoken by over 350,000 people, is an integral part of Maldivian identity. The Academy researches Dhivehi, develops educational materials, and promotes its use in various spheres of life.
