The original mosque was built long ago during the time of Mulla Mustafa. However the current structure is relatively new. In 1996 the people of Tepeköy decided to renovate their old mosque. A tragic event marked the project’s completion. Nihat Tekin a generous benefactor passed away from a heart attack. He had made significant contributions to the construction. In a touching tribute the villagers named the new mosque in his honor the Nihat Tekin Mosque.
