Te Okoriki Inlet is a bay. It is a salient of water into the land. The inlet’s geographical coordinates are -36.7898 latitude and 174.6598 longitude.

But what makes Te Okoriki Inlet truly special? It’s its connection to the wider coastal walkway. This walkway, known as Te Ara Manawa, meaning “the pathway amongst the mangroves”. Manawa also refers to the heart or seat of human emotions in poetic terms.

The name Onekiritea is the traditional name for Hobsonville Point. It was once the location of a Maori village. It refers to the white clays sourced on the peninsula. Maori had several traditional uses for these clays.
