Can you see it from here, the Tapion Reef? It’s just there, overlooking the sea. It’s the location of Tapion Hospital, an impressive medical edifice. Tapion Hospital is a private hospital that opened its doors in 1996. It’s on a spectacular reef, which gives it a unique character. It’s a 30-bed private facility with two equipped operating theatre recovery rooms. This is also where they conduct labour and delivery. Tapion hospital has a well-stocked pharmacy, a laboratory, and a radiology facility. It’s the largest accredited private laboratory in the Eastern Caribbean. You can even get a Tapion Medicard for a 10% discount on medical services and even in some of the local restaurants. The place is well-known for the high-quality care provided. I remember my grandmother describing the time when her friend’s child was sick and had to be treated at Tapion Hospital. The doctors were very kind, and the nurses were very attentive. The patient felt comfortable and cared for. It took a small group of determined people to make this hospital what it is today. There was a team of 10 core members back in the late 1980s. They contributed a great deal in time, energy, and money. They were willing to help make a dream into a reality. Tapion Hospital is not just a place of healing, it is a testament to the dedication and commitment of a community. A community that cared enough about its own people to create a place that offers a high standard of medical care.
