Rebuilt after summer 2021, Tanager Lake Bridge stands before you. This bridge is more than just a way to cross the Tanager Lake Channel. It is a vital link connecting Orono and Lake Minnetonka.

Originally called Mud Lake, Tanager Lake owes much of its character to Long Lake Creek. The creek flows gracefully from the north, enhancing the lake’s charm. This bridge enhances access and connectivity in this picturesque area.

Tanager Lake Bridge is on Shoreline Drive, also known as County Road 15. The bridge’s replacement project also realigned a portion of CSAH 15. This improvement ensures smoother traffic flow for everyone.

In September 2021, the old bridge was removed. Crews realigned the road and installed new curbs. New gutters and pavement were added. Erosion protections along the shoreline were improved as well. This work was completed in about 30 days.

A signed detour directed traffic during construction. It used Highway 12, Wayzata Boulevard, and other local roads. The detour helped keep local streets safe for residents.

The Dakota Rail Regional Trail crosses Tanager Lake here. The trail runs from Wayzata to Lester Prairie. It follows the old Hutchinson Spur of the Great Northern Railway.

James J. Hill charted the railway in 1885. It once carried wheat and tourists. Today, the Dakota Rail Trail offers scenic views. It connects communities around Lake Minnetonka.

The trail passes over the Tanager Lake Bridge. It runs parallel to County Road 15. This section connects Crystal Bay and Wayzata, providing access to beautiful waterfront views.

Stonebrooke Engineering oversaw the bridge replacement. The project cost about $4.3 million. The new Tanager Lake Bridge ensures safe travel and enhances the beauty of the area.

Tanager Lake is surrounded by landmarks. These include Fox Street, North Shore Drive, and the Dakota Rail Trail. These landmarks enhance the area’s beauty and accessibility. Residents and visitors appreciate the interconnected roads and trails.

The Tanager Lake Bridge stands as a testament to progress. It is a link between nature and community. It invites you to explore the beauty of Tanager Lake and its surroundings.
