Remember November 24 1916. It marked the day Szent J\u00f3zsef-k\u00e1polna was consecrated. It was dedicated to Saint Joseph. We are standing before Szent J\u00f3zsef-k\u00e1polna a place with a rich history. It is a testament to faith and community.
In 1908, Carmelite nuns settled in Pusztaszentl\u0151rinc. They gathered and lovingly cared for orphaned boys aged 2 to 14. Soon, three family houses grew. Their orphanage was built in the villa district of Mikl\u00f3stelep. Here, 10 to 12 nuns raised 30 to 40 orphans.
The Szent J\u00f3zsef-k\u00e1polna expanded in 1916 with a chapel. Locals increasingly attended daily masses. From 1932, two Sunday masses were held by the clergy.
However, in 1950 religious orders were dissolved. The orphanage was nationalized. The chapel was moved to the neglected Draskovich house. Yet the faithful quickly made it usable.
A significant turning point came in 1969. Dr. B\u00e1nk J\u00f3zsef Bishop of V\u00e1c elevated it to parish status. He appointed Dr. Liptay Gy\u00f6rgy as its first parish priest on September 1. In 1970, the house and its 640 square plot were purchased. It was expanded and renovated through community donations. The chapel spans 152 square meters. The parish covers 83 square meters.
Pastoral care was provided by the main parish from 1983. During the diocesan boundary adjustment in 1993 the parish moved. It shifted from the Diocese of V\u00e1c to the Archdiocese of Esztergom-Budapest.
Today, Szent J\u00f3zsef-k\u00e1polna stands as a beacon of hope. Its address is 1183 Budapest Ibolya u. 1. The feast day is May 1. Eucharistic Adoration is on March 11 and December 2. The parish is part of the Pestszentl\u0151rinc-Soroks\u00e1r Deanery. Szent J\u00f3zsef-k\u00e1polna has kept records since 1969.
