Sumampan Waterfall

It arose from a serendipitous accident. Leaking irrigation tunnels, intended for the Blahbatuh area, seeped water onto the cliff face. Over time, and with the help of rock excavation for the area’s famous stone carvings, the water flow concentrated. This formed the cascading wonder we know as Sumampan Waterfall. The waterfall is located in Banjar Sumampan, Kemenuh village, Sukawati sub-district, in Gianyar regency. It’s about a 23km drive from Denpasar. The entry fee is a modest IDR 20,000, a small price to pay for experiencing this hidden gem. Sumampan Waterfall stands approximately 15 meters high. It’s not just the water that captivates, but the unique stone carvings adorning the rocks. These carvings, the work of artist I Nyoman Retana, add a layer of artistic heritage to the natural beauty. They depict traditional Balinese motifs, enhancing the waterfall’s charm.
