Studios de Bry is a cornerstone of French film production. It stands just ten kilometers from Paris. These studios have been crafting movie magic since 1987.
Initially named Hollywood-sur-Marne, the Studios de Bry owe their existence to the Societé Française de Production SFP. Inaugurated in 1987, they were later privatized. In 2001, Euro Media acquired them. This made them a leader in French audiovisual services.
However, in 2013, Euro Media sold the property to Nemoa. They remained as tenants. The following year brought a potential crisis. There was a plan to shut down the studios. Film professionals rallied to prevent this.
Thanks to their efforts, Studios de Bry was saved. Didier Diaz, head of Transpalux, stepped in. He vowed to revitalize the studios.
The Studios de Bry complex spans twelve hectares. It is located near the INA. It boasts eight stages. The total area is 40,000 square meters. This makes it one of France’s largest studio facilities.
Studios de Bry have been the location for numerous famous films. “Un long dimanche de fiançailles” filmed scenes here. So did “Marie-Antoinette” and “Les rivières pourpres”. The series “Versailles” was also a production here. Even the American blockbuster “Hunger Games 3” used these studios.
Each stage offers unique specifications. For example, Plateau B1 has 1,000 square meters of space. Its height reaches 12.10 meters. Plateau B5 features 1,085 square meters. It has a height of 17 meters.
The Studios de Bry faced threats from real estate development. The Grand Paris Express project posed a challenge. However, the local government supported the studios. They integrated it into the city’s urban plan.
In 2023, Axa Investment Managers and Guillaume de Menthon acquired the site. They plan to double production capacity. They also seek to integrate it with the INA.
Today, Studios de Bry hold the “Grande Fabrique de l’Image – France 2030” label. This signifies public support for studio development in France.
