When the Stratford Grammar School moved to the site in 1958, they erected an owl sculpture near the main entrance. The wise owl symbolized wisdom and learning, but the pupils had another name for it – the Ollie Beak fan club. They were referred to as ‘Ollie Beak’ after a popular children’s television program called “Tuesday Rendezvous,” which featured an owl puppet. The school has a long and distinguished history.
