That was in 1980. It wasn’t easy in the beginning. They had a strong conviction not to borrow money or ask for donations. In fact, they didn’t even have a collection. So they held their meetings in university rooms, community centers, and even private homes. But as the Lord would have it, they eventually found a beautiful church building in the heart of their community. The Straitgate Church has a special focus on serving the poor, immigrants and children from single-parent homes and widows. They consider this their elite ministry, as they are making a genuine impact on the lives of those most in need. Straitgate Church is a vibrant and welcoming congregation that prioritizes making the Lord’s mission their mission. They don’t have youth groups or rummage sales and instead, focus on preaching the word of God, praying, and reaching out to the lost souls of the city. They believe that everything they do should stem from the principle that except the Lord build the house, the labourers labor in vain. The church is a testament to the enduring power of faith and its impact on the community. From humble beginnings in the university rooms, Straitgate Church has flourished into a pillar of hope, offering strength and support to those who need it most.
