Resting peacefully amidst a gently rolling landscape, Storhøj whispers tales of a time long ago. Storhøj is a residential area in Mårslet Parish. It sits nine kilometers from Aarhus’ center. The name Storhøj refers to the hilly landscape. It also refers to an old local field name.

Picture this: It’s the early 1960s. The first major subdivision of villa plots in Mårslet Parish began here. Storhøj emerged. Today, the area has 66 parcels along Storhøjvej. Side roads branch off. These are Moselodden, Englodden, Marklodden, Kærnodden, and Bakkelodden.

The location is scenic. It features a strongly hilly area. Storhøj sits one kilometer southeast of Jelshøj. It’s on the southern slope of the large Holme Bjerge hill. Nearby is Hørret Forest. The forest holds many ancient monuments.

Storhøj’s isolated location gives it a distinct village feel. Almost everyone knows each other. Social life flourishes. A homeowners association and residents association thrive. Many committees and interest groups operate under the residents association.

Before Storhøj’s rise in the mid-1900s, the area was open fields. It had no buildings. Today, the town mainly consists of detached houses. A few agricultural properties dot the landscape. Storhøj belongs to Mårslet Parish. It also belongs to Aarhus Søndre Deanery and Aarhus Diocese. Historically, it was part of Mårslet Parish Municipality. In 1970, it became part of Aarhus Municipality.

A small, beautiful residential area called Æblehegnet connects closely to Storhøj. The subdivision here came from Egely nursery. In 2006, the book “Storhøj’s History” was published. Storhøj’s history group wrote it.

Despite its proximity to Aarhus, Storhøj offers peace. You find it surrounded by fields and forests. It is only eight kilometers from the city center.
