Peeking through Munich-Freiham’s history is the Stiftungsschloss Freiham. It is a jewel for private events. But currently no events take place here.
The baroque building completed in 1680 stands before us. Achilles von Hermersreuth commissioned it. He was an ennobled chamber musician. He served the Prince-elector. The Stiftungsschloss Freiham’s original design was clear. It seems inspired by Schloss Nymphenburg’s structure.
Over time, Stiftungsschloss Freiham changed owners. Each owner reshaped it. They adapted it to the prevailing tastes.
The grandest transformation occurred. It was under the Counts von Yrsch in the late 19th century. They remodeled the facades. They chose a neo-Gothic style. They also added extensions to Stiftungsschloss Freiham. Later, the von Maffei family altered the interior designs significantly.
Today, the Edith-Haberland-Wagner Foundation owns the Stiftungsgut Freiham. The Stiftungsgut includes the Stiftungsschloss. Since 2015, the foundation has lovingly renovated the village. They have taken great care to preserve its historical character. Parts of the village now shine. They invite visitors to enjoy culture and history. You can also explore arts and crafts.
The Stiftungsgut Freiham offers a variety of attractions. You can see the Heilig-Kreuz-Kirche. There is also the Gasthaus “Zum Gustl” with its beer garden. Children can enjoy a playground. Future plans include a festival hall. A marketplace is also planned. You will find a horse stable and a distillery here. There is also a barrel factory. A museum is in the works. Of course, there is a parking lot. You can also find a bowling alley here.
The Stiftungsschloss Freiham stands as a testament. It shows the area’s rich history. It also highlights architectural changes over centuries. Although event spaces are not currently available, keep an eye. Opportunities may arise.
