Buried 26 meters below the bustling streets, it’s a testament to the ambition of the Grand Paris Express project. Initial plans for a station at Place Carnot, a stone’s throw from here, date back to the 1920s! But it wasn’t until recently that the vision finally took shape. Architects Richez Associés, known for their work on other Line 11 stations, designed Romainville – Carnot. Imagine the rumble as the tunnel boring machine, Sofia, broke through the earth here in April 2021! Today, Station de métro Romainville – Carnot seamlessly blends the modern with the historical. Look around! You’ll find remnants of the past rubbing shoulders with sleek, new structures, a testament to the ever-evolving story of Paris.
