Interestingly, the City Stadium stands before us. This is no ordinary entrance. We’re at Stadium Entrance in George Town. Let me tell you its story.

The City Stadium is the oldest stadium still in use in Malaysia. It was built in 1932 by the British. For decades it has been a beloved venue for football matches.

Imagine the roar of the crowd. Picture the excitement during a crucial game. This stadium has witnessed countless victories and defeats. It has hosted generations of football fans.

The City Stadium is also known as Stadium Bandaraya. It sits at the border of Jalan Dato Kramat and Jalan Perak. Its location is central to George Town.

Initially the City Stadium’s entrance occupied a larger area. Today it is much reduced in size. The stadium has a capacity of 20,000 spectators.

Over the years, the City Stadium has seen renovations. These updates provide a facelift. Due to George Town’s congestion, expansion was impossible.

Now bigger events occur elsewhere. These events are held at the Penang State Stadium in Batu Kawan. Indoor events take place at the Penang International Sports Arena.

Many Rapid Penang buses pass near the stadium. Buses 102, 201, 202, 203, 204, 304 and 502 serve the area. The nearest bus stop is along Dato Kramat Road.

Once, the land where it was built was a landfill. Now the City Stadium stands as a testament to Penang’s sporting history. It’s a multi-purpose stadium.

The City Stadium includes an athletic track. The track is used for various sporting events. It’s a hub of activity within George Town.

This entrance is more than just a gate. It’s a gateway to history. Think of the athletes who have passed through it. Feel the energy that still lingers in the air. The Stadium Entrance is a portal to Penang’s vibrant past.
