Didn’t Edward Newill, the Archdeacon of Dorking, have a vision? In 1938, he saw new houses springing up around Howell Hill. He declared that these people needed a church. This is the origin story of St Paul’s Howell Hill.

Now, standing before St Paul’s Howell Hill, you’re witnessing a place of community and faith. It is located between Sutton and Epsom. St Paul’s welcomes everyone. Young families, young people, and those who are older find a home here.

But the story doesn’t end with the archdeacon’s vision. Not much happened initially. Then, in 1959, the Kahns, a family from St Lawrence Morden, arrived. They began gathering with local Christians. Their home meetings grew. Rev. John Watson was hired as the first vicar. In 1963, the first church was built.

The congregation of St Paul’s Howell Hill flourished. By 1987, a decision was made. The original building was demolished. St Paul’s, as we know it today, was constructed.

St Paul’s has always been known for its work with children and youth. Also for its dedication to mission. Recently, they have focused on church planting. They are revitalizing efforts. St Paul’s now shares a united parish with St Barnabas Epsom.

Today, St Paul’s Howell Hill continues its story. Their vision is clear. “Being with Jesus, becoming like Jesus, doing what Jesus did.” You can join them. You can participate in their services. You can attend events throughout the week. These events offer support. They encourage faith.

Consider joining the electoral roll. Become part of St Paul’s story. St Paul’s Howell Hill is more than just a building. It’s a community. It’s a place to discover the love of God. It’s a place to find friendship and support. It is a place to live life to the full.
