St Ninians Episcopal Church, a beacon of faith nestled in Edinburgh, traces its roots back to a mid-19th-century mission established by Holy Trinity Church in Stockbridge. This mission, initially located on St Bernard’s Row, marked the beginning of St Ninians. The church, as we see it today, wasn’t always here. The original structure, built in 1921 with funds painstakingly raised by the congregation, stood as a testament to their dedication. However, a larger vision fueled their efforts – a more permanent sanctuary. That vision materialized in 1952 when the present St Ninians Episcopal Church was consecrated, a beacon of faith for generations to come. The church we see now replaced a more humble structure, which was then repurposed into the church hall. This hall served the community for decades until it was eventually replaced in the 1990s through a rather unique agreement with a property developer. They demolished the old hall to build flats but in exchange, provided the church with a new, modern hall and foyer that you see today, a testament to the evolving times and the enduring spirit of St Ninians Episcopal Church.
