St. John Mary Vianney Parish stands in Cembo, Makati. Its story began with a challenge. The lot was small and oddly shaped. In 2003 Arch. Pabs faced this task. He belonged to the Single Young Adults of Santuario de San Antonio Parish. They needed plans for this new church.
Arch. Pabs researched St. John Mary Vianney. He learned about the priest’s life. He studied the church the priest built in Ars, France. Simplicity and beauty inspired him. He blended this inspiration with the modern surroundings of Bonifacio Global City. The result was remarkable.
The former mayor of Makati even called it one of the most beautiful churches in Metro Manila. It stands as a testament to faith and ingenuity. St. John Mary Vianney Parish is more than just aesthetics. It’s designed with sustainability in mind.
Look around you. Notice the galvalume louvers. They act as solar shading. They also reduce noise. Air can still flow freely. See the stained glass windows. Clerestory windows and louvers allow natural light. Exhaust fans provide cross ventilation. This design reduces the need for artificial light.
The church also prioritizes accessibility. A ramp and elevator are available for persons with disabilities. Energy-efficient lamps and appliances are used. Water-efficient fixtures help conserve resources. Low VOC paints contribute to healthier air quality.
These features create comfortable interiors. Natural light reduces energy consumption. Reduced electric and water bills benefit the parish. The building has a gross floor area of 810.16 square meters. It has four storeys. Construction finished in June 2006.
