“Did you know a church in Makati was inspired by a 17th-century French priest?” That’s right. Today we explore St. John Mary Vianney Parish. This church isn’t just a building. It’s a story of dedication and inspiration.

St. John Mary Vianney Parish stands in Cembo, Makati. Its story began with a challenge. The lot was small and oddly shaped. In 2003 Arch. Pabs faced this task. He belonged to the Single Young Adults of Santuario de San Antonio Parish. They needed plans for this new church.

Arch. Pabs researched St. John Mary Vianney. He learned about the priest’s life. He studied the church the priest built in Ars, France. Simplicity and beauty inspired him. He blended this inspiration with the modern surroundings of Bonifacio Global City. The result was remarkable.

The former mayor of Makati even called it one of the most beautiful churches in Metro Manila. It stands as a testament to faith and ingenuity. St. John Mary Vianney Parish is more than just aesthetics. It’s designed with sustainability in mind.

Look around you. Notice the galvalume louvers. They act as solar shading. They also reduce noise. Air can still flow freely. See the stained glass windows. Clerestory windows and louvers allow natural light. Exhaust fans provide cross ventilation. This design reduces the need for artificial light.

The church also prioritizes accessibility. A ramp and elevator are available for persons with disabilities. Energy-efficient lamps and appliances are used. Water-efficient fixtures help conserve resources. Low VOC paints contribute to healthier air quality.

These features create comfortable interiors. Natural light reduces energy consumption. Reduced electric and water bills benefit the parish. The building has a gross floor area of 810.16 square meters. It has four storeys. Construction finished in June 2006.

Inside, you’ll find several amenities. There’s a parish office. A parish hall provides space for gatherings. A refectory and dining hall offer meals. Kitchen and toilet facilities are available. The main congregation area includes lofts. A rectory with a meditation deck provides a quiet space.

Fr. Jaime Marquez is associated with the parish. St. John Mary Vianney Parish reflects the love of God for his people. It is a place of worship. It also serves as a community hub.

As we conclude our visit, remember the words of St. John Mary Vianney. “If my tongue cannot say in every moment that I love You I want my heart to repeat it to You as often as I draw breath.” This parish embodies that love. It is expressed through its design, its community, and its dedication to faith.
