From its humble beginnings as St George’s Primary School to its current standing as St George’s Primary Catholic Voluntary Academy, this institution has witnessed a remarkable transformation. St George’s Primary Catholic Voluntary Academy officially opened its doors as an academy on May 1, 2019. This marked a new chapter in its history, transitioning from a voluntary aided school under the Diocese of Westminster. The academy now thrives under the Blessed Holy Family Catholic Academy Trust. St George’s Primary Catholic Voluntary Academy caters to a vibrant mix of boys and girls aged 2 to 11, reflecting the diverse community it serves. With a capacity of 420 pupils, the academy currently nurtures the minds of 414 young learners. Interestingly, the academy’s predecessor, St George’s Primary School, had a slightly larger capacity of 436. The academy shares its location with a 30-place day nursery known as St George’s Dragons. This nursery, managed by the academy’s Governing Body, provides care and education for younger children. Some places are funded, while others require fees. St George’s Primary Catholic Voluntary Academy maintains its strong connection to its Roman Catholic roots within the Archdiocese of Westminster. Led by Mrs. Deirdre Monaghan, the academy benefits from a dedicated staff, supportive parents, and a proactive Governing Body. The school’s motto, “We are learning and growing together as God’s family. We will always do our best to love and respect each other as we prepare for our future,” encapsulates the academy’s nurturing and inclusive ethos. A glimpse into the school’s governance reveals the dedication of individuals like Stefan Scicinski, Chair of the local governing body, whose term extends until August 31, 2027.
