“Did those windows always seem so big?” a child might wonder, dwarfed by the grand facade of St Francesca Cabrini Primary School. This stately building, now quiet, once bustled with the energy of hundreds of pupils. St Francesca Cabrini Primary School began its life over a century ago, a beacon of education founded on the principles of its namesake, St. Francesca Cabrini herself. This Italian-born nun dedicated her life to serving the less fortunate, a mission that resonated within the walls of this very school. Imagine the halls filled with the echoes of laughter and learning, children diligently practicing their times tables or excitedly sharing tales from their history lessons. St Francesca Cabrini, known for embracing diversity, would have been proud of the school’s multicultural environment, a vibrant tapestry woven from different faiths and nationalities. Sadly, St Francesca Cabrini Primary School closed its doors in August 2023. The once lively classrooms now stand silent, marking the end of an era. Yet, the spirit of St. Francesca Cabrini, her commitment to education and compassion, continues to resonate, a timeless lesson whispered on the wind that sweeps through the now empty playground.
