Nestled in the heart of Hampstead, St. Anthony’s School has been shaping young minds since 1952. It started as one of the few Catholic prep schools in North London with just a small group of boys. Now, St. Anthony’s School educates nearly 300 boys between the ages of four and thirteen. The school isn’t confined to a single building. St. Anthony’s School actually occupies two distinct locations. The Junior House is at 90 Fitzjohn’s Avenue, a building with a past life as a nursing home. The Senior House resides at 1 Arkwright Road, a grand Victorian villa that once served as an ambassador’s residence. Richard Patton, a former naval commander who braved the Arctic convoys during World War II, founded St. Anthony’s School. His son, Tim, stepped into the role of headmaster after his father’s death in 1963. Tim Patton cemented St. Anthony’s School’s reputation, though in a rather unconventional manner. For many students under Tim’s leadership, their time at St. Anthony’s School became a pivotal experience. Today, St. Anthony’s is part of the Inspired Education Group.
